The Duchess of Cambridge reportedly chose the same university as Prince William to get closer to him.

Kate Middleton and Prince William’s love story reportedly began with a dress, according to royal historian Robert Lacey.

In his book “Battle of Brothers,” Lacey reveals that Kate was determined to get closer to the future king.

One of the ways the Duchess of Cambridge chose to do so was with a dress. At 19, Kate reportedly walked the runway at a student charity fashion show at St. Andrews, where William was enrolled.

Lacey suggests that the revealing outfit was a deliberate move by Kate, strategically planned to capture William’s attention.

The dress, which sold for a staggering £78,000 after the show, became a turning point in their relationship, according to the book.

However, the designer of the dress, Charlotte, denies any intentional planning on Kate’s part, further claiming that she simply did not recognise Kate at the time.

Lacey’s book also alleges that Kate gave up her confirmed place at the prestigious University of Edinburgh in favor of St. Andrews. Lacey claims she even switched her course to history of art, mirroring William’s choice.

The choice to change universities reportedly raised eyebrows amongst those close to Kate. However, some friends maintain that attending St. Andrews was her personal choice.

At present, the Prince and Princess of Wales have been married for 13 years.
