Lion badly mauls man, negligence cited as cause of incident
LAHORE:
A man died in Bahawalpur Zoo on Wednesday after he fell inside a lion’s enclosure, confirmed the zoo’s administration.
The incident occurred at around 11 am and the man was badly mauled by the lion and could not be saved in time.
Authorities investigating the incident cited negligence on the part of the zoo management, Deputy Director Wildlife Syed Ali Usman Bukhari and Supervisor Kaleem Sarfraz.
The chairman of the Zoo Lovers Society, Murtaza Rasool Khan, has demanded strict action against the authorities, including the deputy director and supervisor.
The investigation is underway and a formal report of the incident will be submitted at a later date.
