CM says strict action will be taken against officials if personnel not recovered

Dacoits in the Shikarpur district of Sindh on Wednesday attacked a police picket in the area and abducted five police officials, including the local station house officer.

Police sources said the attack occurred at the picket established in the katcha Kot Shahu area and SHO Mehboob Brohi was among those abducted.

The attackers fled with the abductees towards the riverine areas which acts as a hideout for such groups. After the report was received, a large contingent of law enforcers reached the site of the incident.

Interim Chief Minister Sindh Justice (retd) Maqbool Baqar expressed displeasure over the incident and directed the province’s inspector general of police to reach Shikarpur and rescue the hostages.

The caretaker CM said that strict action will be taken against the DIG and SSP of the district if the SHO and other police personnel are not recovered. He gave the police three days to recover the abductees.

Furthermore, he said that strict action will be taken against those who do not work according to the rules in the district or when posted at police stations and asked for an inquiry report.
